Adam Cummings - football coach of the year 2023, 2025

Adam Cummings - West Plains High School

Why Honored: Cummings led the West Plains Wolves to a successful season in the schools first year in existence. Working with a brand new team, Cummings and his players ended the season 7-5 overall, but with a 3-1 district record.

The Wolves beat Pecos in the Bi-District round, moving on to Area play, where they eventually lost to Hirschi.

Cummings led West Plains High School’s football team to an impressive 11-4 record in 2024, culminating in a hard-fought loss to Celina in the 4A Division I State Semifinals. The team enjoyed a strong playoff run with dominant victories over Clint (42-8), Brownwood (49-14), Lampasas (63-35), and Stephenville (42-35). With 22 years of coaching experience in both football and track, including tenures at Sundown, Hale Center, Canyon, and Canyon Junior High, Cummings took the helm at West Plains when the school opened in August 2022. Over the past three years, he has closely supervised the team’s growth and development into a state contender.
