Darby Norman - Randall
Coach Darby Norman has built a tennis dynasty at Randall High School, leading the program for over 14 years. As a Randall alum himself, Coach Norman has transformed the Raiders into one of the top tennis teams in Texas. Under his leadership, the team has claimed multiple titles, including the 2022 Class 4A Team Tennis State Championship, the first in school history. He was named the inaugural Team Tennis Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association in 2023.
In the 2023–24 season, the team finished with a 34-1 record, their only loss coming against 6A powerhouse San Angelo Central. They defeated the No. 1 ranked Wimberley 10-7 in the semifinals and went on to beat Wills Point 10-4 in the finals. In the spring, Coach Norman also coached two 4A state doubles champions.
Coach Norman, who also teaches English, credits the program’s success to the pride and work ethic that runs through Randall High School. “Randall breeds excellence,” he says, pointing to the culture of high expectations and support that stretches across the school.
